How to Use a Microdose Capsule Maker:
Complete Step-by-Step Guide
A simple visual and step-by-step guide to creating consistent capsules with your chosen powdered blend โ covering setup, filling, tamping, sealing, and storage using a standard 100-hole capsule maker.
A microdose capsule maker allows you to fill dozens of capsules at once, keeping your routine neat, consistent, and easy to track. The instructions below walk you through using a standard 100-hole capsule maker with separate plates for the capsule bodies and caps.
Filling Capsules with a 100-Hole Capsule Maker
Set Up the Body Plate
Place the box-shaped alignment frame on top of the body plate. This guides capsule bodies into the holes correctly and keeps everything aligned during loading.
Load the Capsule Bodies
Pour around 100 empty capsule bodies into the body plate. Hold the alignment frame and body plate together firmly, then gently shake from side to side so the bodies drop into the holes.
Check Capsule Orientation
Remove the alignment frame. Press down gently on the body plate to ensure all capsule bodies are seated with the open end facing upward. Turn any upside-down capsules the correct way before proceeding.
Add Your Powdered Blend
Pour your chosen powdered mixture onto the capsule bodies in the body plate. Use the supplied spreader card (or any clean card) to move the powder across the surface, filling each capsule evenly as you go.
Tamp and Top Up
Using the tamper tool, press down gently to compact the powder filling. Add more powder if needed and repeat until all capsules are filled to your preferred level โ without over-packing.
Set Up the Cap Plate
Place the alignment frame on top of the cap plate. Pour around 100 empty capsule caps into the cap plate ready for seating.
Seat the Caps
Hold both the alignment frame and cap plate together, then gently shake from side to side so the caps fall into the holes one by one, mirroring the process used for the bodies.
Check Cap Orientation
Remove the alignment frame and correct any caps that are not seated properly or facing the wrong direction before moving to the sealing phase.
Add the Middle Plate
Place the middle plate (often yellow) over the cap plate. This plate distributes pressure evenly across all caps when you press the assembly together in the next step.
Join Caps to Bodies
Hold the middle plate and cap plate together, flip the assembly upside-down, and align it carefully with the body plate so each cap sits directly above its filled capsule body.
Press to Close the Capsules
Press down firmly several times on the middle plate to connect each cap onto its body. Continue until you feel and hear them lock into place across the entire plate.
Release and Store Your Capsules
Separate the plates and pour out the finished capsules. Inspect a few to confirm they are properly closed, then transfer them into a clean, clearly labelled, airtight container.
